I'm in a damn good mood, folks, and I wanted to blog about it. I have a tendency to blog when I'm feeling down, frustrated, etc., but I am determined to break that habit...You all deserve to read my beautiful works of journalism when I'm both happy and sad.
It's 4:40pm on my side of the Earth, and I've just awoken from a glorious nap, nay, a glorious siesta. How silly I was to criticize these people of their daily siestas. What a difference it can make in attitude and general performance at work. Even though I still think it is a slight waste of time, I have come to realize that after teaching a 3-hour private grammar class from 9am-12pm Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, a mid-day snooze is obligatory, especially when there are classes to be taught in the evenings, as well.
Speaking of my 3 hour grammar class today...it went...alright. I guess. Teaching English grammar for a 3 hour block, to one single person, is definitely my biggest challenge in Spain thus-far (besides being semi-illegal.) My student is studying English so she can pass her exam to become an air-traffic controller (a pretty legit job in Spain- you work 3 days a week, 6 hours each day with a 1 1/2 hour break in-between, and awesome pay.) She is a whiz when it comes to grammar, but the breezy won't talk. At all. This is what makes my job difficult, and also what makes the class seem never-ending. Oh well. The important part is that I made it through, alive, with a seemingly-happy student.
Afterward, I walked outside class to find myself in kick-ass 65 degree weather. I decided to treat myself to some Tortilla Espanola from a cafe/bar down the street (a ridiculously big slice, along with a roll of bread, for only 2 Euros.) After realizing it was also a bakery/panederia, I couldn't help but purchase some after-meal sweets. I opted to eat my meal outside in the sunshine, and found myself a cozy little concrete slab to which I made myself at home. It felt good to just relax outside under the Spanish sun with some tasty/cultural food.
I came home to open an email from none other than Mr. Sebastian, the man responsibile for my irresponsibility. Out of respect for him and his set of manlyhoods, I won't post his email verbatim, but it was a sweet profession of love. Exactly what I needed before a mid-day siesta. Safe to say, I went to sleep in a blissful state.
After my evening classes (5:30-6:30: devil-children, and 6:30-8: adults) I was still in an exceptionally good mood, so I decided to stop at none other than MONTADITOS to pick up some bocaditos para llevar. You can't beat 1 Euro Montaditos. I came home, had my fill, and here I am now. Disgustingly full from a week's worth of food, and content with life in general.
What did you do today?
P.S...I' threw in a picture of my delicious Spanish lunch, just for good measure.
