So I walked into the carniceria and said, "Un polla, por favor..."

...And that's the short, yet effective, story I tell my students when I can tell they'd rather gouge their own eyes out than be stuck in my classroom learning English. So far, it's proved to be quite the success for two reasons:

1.) I tell the story in Spanish. After an hour and a half of being forced to listen to, understand, and speak English, any hint of Castellano that comes off my lips immediately grabs their attention.
2.) Well...if you are a Spanish-speaker at any level, you should be able to piece together the irony/humor of my short narrative. If not, do a little research and you'll surely get the point.

And since we're on the subject, work has been going smoothly. I'm happy to say that I've been steadily receiving more hours. To the detriment of students, English teachers are not the most reliable species. This, however, works completely in my favor, as I am not yet on a contract/working on a salary basis, and receive many of my hours covering for them. I just turned in my tally of hours, and I must say I'm happy with the outcome of this month. In fact, I'll be making roughly twice as much as I first anticipated. Who's a boss, you ask? Why, that would be me. I'm a boss.

Speaking of boss-like behaviour ( I am now in the habit of writing in both American and British-style English, as most of my colleagues are British and teach with that background), I did a very bad-ass thing the other day. In the middle of a meeting with my boss, the head of studies, the director, an off-branch teacher, and two clerical workers, I fell asleep. Not only did I manage to fall asleep, I fell asleep with my eyes open. How is this possible, you ask? I have no fucking clue. But it happened. After a HUGE lunch at home, I was in no condition to be sitting in a room going over methodology and legal aspects of the school. As a result, I somehow managed to keep my eyes set on my boss while he was talking, but fall asleep completely.

"Tiffany? Are you okay?"
"Huh? What...yea...si...yes, estoy bien. I'm fine. Why?"

"You look a bit tired."
"Oh...hah. I...sabes...I forgot my glasses today. My eyes...they don't work without glasses. I mean they get tired. No glasses. Today."

"Oh...right...okay then, we'll carry on........"

Smooth.

Aside from work, nothing else has been over-the-top exciting or story-worthy. On weekends Sebas and I usually go out with his cousins/friends, but since he is working terrible hours this week, it looks like we are staying in. Tonight we will be trying out a new Indian restaurant walking-distance from the house. Magnificent. I love Indian food: the flavor, the spice, the aroma, the culture. I want to go to India one day. Would anyone like to join?

Well that concludes this exciting blog-update. Keep reading. Feel free to leave me comments, messages, feedback, etc. I'd appreciate if I knew at least a couple people read this here and there. If not, it's okay. I still love writing them. Besos, Ciao!
